人言可畏

Basically, the big hoo-ha is that Xiao Zhu a.k.a. 罗志祥 a.k.a Show Lo was 'condemned' by media reports cos he's not the guai/乖 or good guy he seemed to portray himself as. But seriously, I have doubts...

1. I never ever see him as someone '乖'. He's more the mischevious and funny type imo.

2. What did he do wrong? Just online instant messaging/chatting online. Ok, he might have posed shirtless in front of the web cam, he might have been edging towards making friends with pretty girls/well known models etc. but its not a crime. At worst, he's 'flirtatious'. And that's a bit of overstatement cos he's simply 'chatting'.

3. The headline for the past 2 day's was how there's supposedly another 3 netizens on his 'list'. And apparently all three spilled some beans with regard to what they chat/do. I think anyone sane can tell its attention/fame these trio are seeking.

In summary, it portrays a depressing state of media. To loosely translate what Xiao Zhu said, they already saw a corpse on the floor but still carry on firing the rounds.

人言可畏. This we can't deny. Words hurt. Gossip is a fearful thing. We always hear people say: "Mouth belongs to others. Let them say/scold/comment all they want. Just stand by your own principle if you are sure its right". In fact I tell these to/hear these from people around me too. But, again, just like what Xiao Zhu said, he's not affected by the critics but it hurts/pains to see those around you being affected by it. 事情并没有我们想象得那么直接,单纯。因为在我们身边还有许许多多陪伴着我们的人。我们可以尽最大的能力,但是我们是没有办法保证他们不会被引向到的。

The next time you pass off a remark, a comment, or criticism think twice. It cost you nothing. Maybe just a second or two (plus a bit of saliva ^_^"), but it costs others much more. Try to make sure it is constructive.

To Xiao Zhu:
"
Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me". Continue holding your head up high.
